Harry Potter And The Sorcerers Stone Comparison

The subject of this report is Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone by J. K. Rowling. It is a story of a young boy named Harry Potter who find out he is a wizard. The story starts with Harry living with his aunt and uncle as his parents were killed when he was baby by a evil and powerful dark wizard named Voldemort. As Harry gets older strange things happen that he can not explain. When Harry is close to turning eleven he receives a letter from a wizarding school but his uncle destroys it before Harry can read it. Over the next week more and more letters appear. With dozens coming in through the mail slot, finding them in eggs, of hundreds flying in through the fireplace. The uncle moves the family away. At midnight when Harry turns eleven someone knock down the door to their hideout. It is a half giant named Hagrid. He takes Harry away to go shopping for school supplies such as a cauldron, robes, wand, and as a birthday present from Hagrid an owl. One such similarity is that Harry’s parents are killed by Voldemort but he is not. This is important because it gives Harry a reason to fight against Voldemort and means that he lived through a curse that no one has lived through before. Meaning that the curse rebounded off of Harry and hit Voldemort. Also another point of similarity is that Harry, Ron, and Hermione become close friends. These three need each other in order to fight Voldemort. They need Harry’s bravery, Hermione’s brains, and Ron’s stubbornness in order to win against the dark lord. A final similarity is that Harry, Ron, and Hermione are put in the same house. this is a necessity for the three so they can become a close knit group of friends and have more time to discuss way to undermine Voldemort’s plans.
