Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is about three friends named Harry, Ron, and Hermione who all go to the wizarding school of Hogwarts. During the first few weeks of the school year, Harry hears a weird voice that nobody can hear. Throughout the following weeks, the voice becomes more savage and killer like saying things like ”Rip ….tear …..kill ….time ..to..kill.” Vicious attacks begin happening to students at the school, but the group of friends can't find what is doing it. They look very far back into Hogwarts history, in which they find that the original founder of Slytherin, a team of students in the school had made a hidden passage with the Monster of Slytherin. The theme is represented this way through Harry, the main character. His thoughts and actions show that he struggles with himself to figure out who he is. He remembers that in his first year, the sorting hat had considered putting him in Slytherin, also with the fact that he can speak parseltongue that made him think that he was the heir of Slytherin. Many of the students even think he is the heir of Slytherin, even though both of his parents were in Gryffindor and he hasn't done a single thing to ever threaten anybody that had not threatened him first. Since snakes are the animal of Slytherin, and he can talk to them, he is instantly thought to be “Slytherin's heir.” Harry’s actions show the theme throughout the book. When Harry finds Tom’s diary, Tom shows Harry how alike they are, when Tom was in Slytherin, such as they were both half-bloods, raised by normal humans, and both could speak parseltongue. But since Harry chose to side with Gryffindor, he defines who he is and stops Tom
