Who believes he has come unstuck in time. He passes through a door and finds himself in another time and place. His fragmented experience of time structures the novel as short episodic pieces and shows how the difficulty of recounting traumatic experiences can require unusual literary techniques like the one tralfamadorians use. I decided to write the task, in letter form, a letter to the author of the book telling him to change the cover, thus to the importance the cover it’s for a book.…

Joseph Campbell’s concept of the Hero’s Journey has made it into the plot of almost every story. From the call to adventure to the boon, a main character of a story often follows this traditional path on their journey of adventure. This proves to be no different for the renowned Harry Potter in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Letter after letter, the people of Hogwarts were desperately trying to get Harry to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.…

It’s hard to believe today that Walt Disney was once fired because he “lacked imagination and had no ideas,” or that the Beatles were cut from a record level because the company didn’t think that they had a future in show business. (Weismen) Still harder to believe is that J.K. Rowling’s world famous book ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ was rejected by no less than 12 publishers before it was finally published in 1997 at the insistence of Bloomsbury chairman, Nigel Newton’s daughter Alice. (Vincent; Lawless “Nigel Newton”) The story of an 11 year old orphan thrust into an unfamiliar world of magic and set on a course to defeat the dark Lord Voldemort who killed his parents transformed into a 7 book series that has sold nearly 500 million…

In 1997, J. K. Rowling’s first of seven books in the Harry Potter series was released. The book quickly became a best-selling phenomenon and so did it’s successors as most young adult readers found themselves hooked and simply couldn’t get enough of Harry Potter. Although the series became highly popular, it also brought wide-spread controversy with some parents and teachers who were under the impression that the book promoted the occult, witchcraft, and evil. This perception led to attempts to ban the book series from many schools and libraries. Contrarily, the Harry Potter series should not be banned because it provides lessons on moral values, promotes a healthy mind, it facilitates creativity.…

My first favorite text of literary would gladly have to be not a book, but a series and that’s the Harry Potter series. I love the books that are written by J.K. Rowling, I find the books to be very fascinating to read because you are allowed to escape the aspect of reality and to be a part of the world of Hogwarts. Well other than the fact that it’s science-fiction, it also has real life places involved in the series as well. Just like the use of London, it’s used as the home of Harry Potter and one of his really good friends, Hermione Granger, the two of them are indeed from London, which is an actual place in England which is also the general idea of where the series takes place in. I really like the series because it has a lot of different aspects that are involved in the series like family, blood status, all of that sorta plays a role in the series because in real life it happens as well like in royal families.…

In Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone, the author J.K. Rowling presents many different themes throughout the fantasy story. For example, it seems that Rowling has tied some religious aspects into the story, whether it be explicit references or simply religious symbolism. She also delves into deeper ideas, such as good vs. evil, as well as death and immortality, which you might not exactly expect from a children’s book. Beginning with the explicit references to religion, two major references would be the mention of the holidays Christmas and Easter, which are both usually associated with the Christian religion. However, in this story they don’t seem to be celebrating these holidays religiously.…

The fantasy genre has a great appeal to readers. One of the primary reasons is that “[r]eaders…want something that gives … a sense of wonder, a glimpse at the impossible made real, sights … never otherwise see[n]” Cox says. J.K. Rowling effectively displays this, in her novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. With aspects of typical fantasy setting, the incorporation of mythical creatures and magic, Rowling has created a fantasy novel. The fantasy genre has general guidelines when it comes to creating a story for it to be qualified as fantasy.…

A little disclaimer: I am not good in reflecting, and putting into words my supposed reflection and reactions about ideas or life in general. First of all, how do I reflect or react about a book that has a mutated green apple—assuming it is mutated, as its insides are that of an orange—for its cover? Ultimately, I judge books (literally books, not people) by its cover. The cover of Freakonomics looks quite complicated to me no matter how simple it looked, and led me to the conclusion that the book probably is not my cup of tea (as if I like tea and books in the first place).…
