On December 7th 1941 President Franklin Roosevelt said “a date which will live in infamy. Pearl Harbor was the worst tragedy at the time. It is important to remember that when reading historical fiction, some elements of the story will be truth while others will be made up. Author Harry Mazer talks about some of the true events in Pearl Harbor but it is mostly historically inaccurate.

In the book Boy at War the author Harry Mazer starts the book slow but the speed picks up dramatically and becomes a outstanding book. First of all, Adam is a naval kid who follows his dad around. They just moved to Pearl Harbor and his dad is positioned on the USS Arizona. It is hard for Adam to make friends but he meets Davi. They go fishing in Pearl Harbor early in the morning. Then all of a sudden they hear these planes coming over the ridge. Adam sees the red dot and just like that Pearl Harbor is getting attacked by the Japanese. The author does a great job at keeping you intrigued in the book with not many dull moments. For example, when Pearl Harbor was getting attacked it had

As I read Adam saw the planes coming over his head he said there was hundreds of planes. According to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_on_Pearl_Harbor there was 353 planes that attacked Peral Harbor and 29 were destroyed. In the book it said that there were battleships in Pearl Harbor including the USS Arizona which his dad was on. In further research history tells us that is 100% historically accurate because those were the ships getting attacked according to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battleship. The characters Adam and his family that were at Pearl Harbor during the attack. Their experiences may have been very close to the same as the people who survived Pearl Harbor the characters were made up by the author. Overall, some of the events in the book are true most of the book is historically
