As I read the article of “David Blaine’s Feats of Will. ” I can say that the article has interesting facts about, David Blaine. For example, we can conclude that David did tremendous acts such as, spending sixty-three sleepless hours in times square encased in a giant block of ice, thirty-five hours further than eighty feet above New York park, and I know that, David was entombed in a coffin with six inches of headroom for a week. Although, we can’t forget the treacherous act he did, the ultimate one that I consider one of the ultimate treacherous acts David has done, and that act is when David Blaine wanted to break the world record of holding his breath under water for about, seventeen minutes. However, I consider him brave, but at the same…

Peer Review 1: No Name Cognition: I think that your proposition is good and definitely falls within the genre of a justificatory argument. However, I’m not sure that your argument feels like a justificatory argument. This seems to me to be like an explanatory piece overall because you don’t provide much evidence to support your proposition. You explain the background of your argument, but you don’t explain why the debate about Cleopatra’s race has relevance and why it should continue. This is especially since you say that we can never really know her race; it raises the question of what the point is of talking about it.…

In today’s society, debates over what to do about overcrowded prisons are not uncommon. While a life sentence is often seen as more humane than the death penalty, it also takes up space in the prisons, and therefore tax dollars. However, in this effort, crime has less of a deterrent in the absence of practices that are now considered barbaric, such as whipping. In response, Jeff Jacoby, in his essay “Bring Back Flogging”, argues an unpopular, but potentially problem-solving, point of view; he asserts that corporal punishment should be re-adopted by the United States. To accomplish this, he specifically targets popular counterarguments to showcase his powerful logical backing.…

In my review, i used the three focus writer moves. I incorporated details that the average player/user/listener/reader etc. might overlook by talking about A Boogies process in developing his voice, saying “A Boogie began experimenting with his voice, In Artist, his voice seems to change in certain songs but overall, He seemed to have landed on a creaky but sweet, melodic tone.” I used figurative language by creating a metaphor about A Boogie’s music style “Listening to A Boogie’s music is like going through a time machine taking you back to the heartbreaking moment of losing your first love then going through three stages of heartbreak. First is Sadness, then Anger, and finally Acceptance.” I combined details and argument by talking about…

They Live (1988) directed by John Carpenter, is a movie centered on a drifter who discovers that aliens have taken over the world and have been using subliminal messaging through mass media to keep the human population subordinate. The aim of They Live is to offer a critical commentary on American consumerist society and the dominance those at the top of the social hierarchy have over society. People with disabilities are attached with stigmas, such as being less intelligent or incapable in certain facets of life. Stereotypes are present in society, but it may be difficult to discuss and to further change or overcome them. However, humor can be used as a device to allow a serious topic to be more approachable by relying on preposterous situations. Through the use of dark humor in Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot, John Callahan breaks these stigmas and illustrates an outrageous view of disability in order to show the irrationality of the stereotype or stigma portrayed. Throughout this work, Callahan directly attacks the stereotypes regarding disability and illustrates the realistic portrayal of disability and offers a solution, through humor, to overcome the societal prejudices.…
