Me - “I would like to introduce you to Harry Houdini, a Death-Defying Showman.”
“Harry I would like to ask a few questions and discuss your life before all the fame.” “Can you tell us a little about your family.”
Houdini- “I have six siblings, Leo, Carrie, Herman, Nathan, William, and Theo. My original name isn’t Harry Houdini, it is Ehrich Weiss. I was born in Budapest, Hungary on March 24, 1874. My father, Rabbi Samuel Weiss left Hungary to work as a Rabbi when I was 2. Eventually my dad earned enough money to help move my mom, Cecelia, and my brothers and I across the Atlantic Ocean. My family really liked it there in Appleton where we lived, but four years later, when I was eight my father lost his job. We then moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where my father couldn’t find work so I tried to help out by finding small jobs. I ran away a few times to try to find work elsewhere, but instead I met a boy named Al Flitcroft. Al brought me home to his parents and they took me in and let me live there while I worked.”
Me- “How did you begin your showman business?”

The trick was the disappearing coin trick, I studied what my brothers trick was and practiced it over and over. My best friend ,Jacob Hyman, and I would practice magic tricks in our spare time. Jacob and I wanted to become professionals but we needed a name. I read every book I could find about magic and the one book I liked the most was the autobiography of Jean-Eugene Robert Houdin, their name had become the Brothers Houdini. Ehrich had later become Ehrie which had turned to Harry and that is how I became Harry

Louis was almost too fixated to notice that Harry had sat down on his mattress opposite Louis. The green eyed lad just sat there for a moment, every now and again his mouth opening, then shutting again as if trying to spit out the words which were obviously on the tip of his tongue. “Do you want to talk about what happened? I’ve heard that talking through things makes it better, we could try that?”…
