Harry and Sally met in college, their first encounter with each other was not so smooth.
Harry was dating Sally’s friend, Amanda. Sally offered to ride with Harry to New York, where they both were going to start their careers. While driving, Harry wanted to know about Sally and her life. The whole conversation was about Sally and how she may not find a man in New York and end up alone. They stop at a diner and talk some more, after they were done eating, Harry made a comment that Sally was very attractive. The next morning, Harry had left feeling weird about what just happened, so he told Sally, he was leaving. After that, their relationship began to fall apart. They did not speak to each other for more than 3 weeks. Sally was ignoring all of Harrys phone calls. Until, eventually, she answered one of his calls and told him that they could not be friends anymore, because of what happened. They finally met up at their friend’s wedding, and that is when they talked about what had happen after sleeping with each other. She thought the reason why Harry walk out that night was, because she thought that it meant nothing to Harry. He made it clear that it did mean something, but it was a mistake. Even though talking through their problems, Sally was still not talking to Harry, so a few months went by, and Sally tried dating again, but it was not the same.
For Harry, he could not stop thinking about Sally. That same year, at a New Year's eve party,

Sally finally realized that she missed Harry, and she felt empty without him there with her.
