In comparison of the characters in both the movie and the short story. Harrison isn't the main character in the short story, he is athletic, strong and handsome. In the movie, harrison is the main character and he's really smart. Another character is phillipa, the girl that doesn't even exist in the short story but plays a big part in the movie. In both the movie and short story Harrison is telling us to just be yourself and and not be the average joe because if that's how it is, it'll mess up society in every way possible.
In the short story Harrison is strong, athletic and handsome and in the movie he's the main character and is smarter than everyone else . In the short story it says “He is a genius and an athlete, is under handicapped, and should be regarded as extremely dangerous, he was exactly 7 feet tall” and In the movie there's the scene where Harrison was gonna get brain surgery to become average like everyone else but ended up in a secret …show more content…
She plays a big part in the movie but doesnt even exist in the short story. Phillipa seems to be rebellious with her dad and tris escaping but ends up in the hospital. She guided Harrison throughout the secrete corporation and she's the one that got him to not get his brain surgery. I'm not sure why they didnt put phillipa in the short story but i think if she was she would have way different characteristics than in the movie.
Harrison bergeron is telling you to be yourself because if your not it could mess society in a big way. And if your yourself and your own unique person u can do alot more than someone whos just average like everyone else. In this movie everyone is equal and it just seems boring to be average like everyone else. For example i could work at mcdonalds without a highschool diploma while this other guy works super hard, got college degree and is gonna win the same amount as i do? That wouldn't be fair and that's only one way itl mess up
