One of the themes in the story Harrison Bergeron is our differences make us who we are. There are many parts of the story that show this. Here are three examples of how the theme is show in the story. The first example of how the theme is shown is how George and Hazel have different things to keep them average. George has handicaps to make him not think about things and to have the average height. “George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear.”(Page 1) Hazel has no handicaps because she is average at everything.
