In “Everyday Use” the mother of Dee and Maggie was very old natured and the readers could tell that she favored Dee more but when she gave Maggie the quilts she favored Maggie more. In “Harrison Bergeron”, Harrison’s parents were still in shock of the past and couldn't be/say what they wanted. Both parents in the stories are a little controlling as well. In “Harrison Bergeron” actually get controlled but in “Everyday Use” the mother still controls Maggie. Comparing and contrasting both stories , they have a lot in common. These two stories share a lot in common in their family ways. The two families are very different but similar at the same time. The brokenness of the families in “Everyday Use” and “Harrison Bergeron” made the two alike but the setting and time the two stories were in made the two different.
