Ten chapters in, ninety five pages out and Red Dragon, written by Thomas Harris, easily secures a place on the list of my favorite books. It paces itself well, allowing the narrative to provide answer in due time instead of Harris laying it all out right away. The characterization of the central characters my favorite aspect of the novel. They create a compelling read propelled in part by the failure of Will Graham as a conventional protagonist but also by the allure of two distinctly monsters each with their own agenda.
