The Underground Railroad was an organization made to help slaves gain their freedom. The members took many risks and put their own lives into danger to help others start their new lives. Harriet Tubman and two other individuals, Ellen Craft, and Thomas Gerrett were among them and willing to lose everything to gain freedom for themselves and others from the horrors they were born to. “Harriet Tubman: Guide to Freedom” is an excerpt from a biographical narrative created by Ann Petry. Harriet Tubman, Ellen, and Thomas defied others’ rules to ensure happiness and freedom. Harriet Tubman took runaway slaves from torture and lead them through The Underground Railroad to Canada from Maryland on foot. Ellen Craft dressed as a male plantation worker
