The underground railroad all started with a woman named Harriet Tubman, she was a spy for the United States during the civil war. She was also the main leader of the underground railroad. She took a big risk going back because she could have got caught, or if they found out she had escape it could’ve lead to death. Harriet believed her hair which had never been comb, that stood out like a basket, Might have been what saved her life. She believed this because trying to save another slave she got hit in the head with a weight. She was taken back to her slave owner and she went two days without medical attention, and she was bleeding and unconscious. She said whenever she passed out or fell asleep she had divine dreams.Meaning dreaming about something then it comes true later on. Or witnessing something before it even happens. Harriet brought her own kind along ways. She was helpful in all kinds of situations, and she even risked going back to the same place she escaped from. He was a big part of the underground railroad. He helped Harriet in many ways that you can imagine. He became a world-renowned and anti-slavery activists. His three autobiography’s are considered important works of the slave narrative. He was the most important black American leader. He supported Harriet on her strong belief to, to bring all slaves to freedom. He wrote many letters, and anti-slavery writings. He was known as the strongest man in the black man in the world. He never saw his mother Harriet after the age of seven. He learned how to read illegally by his slave masters wife. Back then it was a crime to teach a black man how to read. Or any black person for that reason, if caught death could come upon you. He was also a risk taker when he escaped to try to become a free man. He left the ship he was on, and used someone’s identity. To lie and try to prove that he was a free slave even though the picture of the man didn’t match douglass face.
