Harmful Misguidance Of Astrology

According to the author, astrology allows harmful misguidance for those who believe in it. It harmful because it states pseudoscience at real science, leading many people to believe it is fact. Astrology also strongly targets women, within the article it states that it is because it is given to them in a way that is supposed to help them find themselves in the world. This is a negative impact from astrology because to discourages women and girls from engaging in real science, because pseudoscience is pushed so heavily on them though television and social media. If one examines astrology, then they will find that it concludes that we as human have no free will. Everything is predetermined “destiny” and things are just “meant to be” (Dvorsky, 2014). Astrology also provides the negative impact of prejudice. It determines who people take on as friends, ‘enemies’, and even to them turning down potential matches because their horoscopes did not ‘match’. Astronomy is the study of the “universe and its contents outside of the Earth’s atmosphere” (Temmings, 2014). The motions, positions, and properties of celestial objects are all examined in astronomy. Astrology on the other hand, tries to predict how those motions, positions, and properties impact people and events (on Earth). One is fact, studied, and researched (astronomy) and one is guesstimated and stated as fact (astrology). So why is astrology pseudoscience?
