Strengths Harley-Davidson’s internal factors come in slightly above the average at 3.10, in most industries the average is 3.0, according to Essentials of Strategic Management Fifth Edition. Harley-Davidson has outstanding innovation when it comes to developing new and efficient motorcycles. Harley is in the process of testing an electric motorcycle in the hopes of gaining a new customer base. With the push to be more environmentally friendly, many people are looking at ways they can help preserve the planet. Harley is hopeful that Project LiveWire will draw these people to purchase their electric bike. In the past Harley has reduced the noise of their bikes by developing quieter gears. By modifying their gears, which included changing the ratio and high contact tooth geometry, Harley was able to reduce the noise their bikes produced. Harley has a lot going for them when it comes to staying at the top of the industry with their innovation. One of the greatest strengths of Harley-Davidson is their option for customers to design their own bike. Harley customers expect quality products and when they do not receive that it impacts sales. Harley has since brought that quality back and is gaining customers because of it. People knew Harley for offering high quality products and when they let that lapse, customers noticed right away. Quality is a key to success and when a company lets that quality deteriorate, it affects the company in every aspect. Harley-Davidson has been smart about teaming up with other companies to brand their name. Harley has teamed with Ford, Mattel, and Kenner to name a few.
