Do you know how Thanksgiving started? Thanksgiving started in the fall of 1621 Squanto brought the settlers and the Indians together to celebrate the first Thanksgiving after growing a successful crop. Squanto was an Indian who helped the Plymouth settlers. Plymouth was established in 1620.Another colony was established named Jamestown in 1607. Although there are many differences between the two colonies the things they have in common , had leaders for their colony, faced hardships, and both had help from the Indians.

Plymouth and Jamestown, both faced many hardships, while settling in the colonies. Some of the hardships were disease, government problems, out of supplies, and starvation in the winter. These colonies had faced a ruff winter.

    Jamestown was not the most successful settlement in the beginning years of 1607-1612. The first settlers unfortunately failed miserably in creating a successful permanent settlement right from the start. The early colonists that arrived at Jamestown around 1607 did not survive mainly because of exposure to disease, conflict with the natives, and lack of clean/any water.
