Six-year old Scout Finch conveys the most courage. She isn’t afraid to do what it takes to stand up for her family and keep them safe. On pages 110-112, Scout gets into an argument with Francis. Francis is ranting really badly about Atticus and teasing Scout about being a black person lover. This infuriates her and she punches him in the mouth. She doesn’t care if she gets in trouble or if she gets “licked”. She is going to stand up for herself no matter what. She shows courage by doing so.

The Radley place is something Dill, Scout, and Jem are all afraid of. Therefore, the children try to test their courage by getting closer and closer to it. They children all want to know more about Boo Radley and his family but they don’t really know how to find out that information. They have heard many stories about Boo stabbing his father in the leg with scissors… which was true. They hear that he is just a scary person and they know that the whole town is afraid of him.
