Analysis Of Agust D's Song 'The Last'

Superior Essays
My first song is by Agust D called “The Last”, I think this song is more based to be a hardship song. The reason why I think this song is a hardship song is because he talks about how before he debuted, he suffered from depression, social anxiety, and did not have much self confidence. Agust D states this in verse 1 ,”On the other side of the famous idol rapper, Stands my weak self, Depression, OCD Around the age of 18, I developed social anxiety”. Later on,using a metaphor in verse 4 he states that he is suffering more and more as time flies by, “As time goes by, I feel like I’m turning into a monster”. By the end of the song in verse 9, “My pride which I thought I had given away ,Has turned into self-respect ,My fans, keep your head high …show more content…
Like the previous two this is another hardship song. At the start of the song the lines ”Don’t look at me with those eyes, Don’t be deluded, That’s your misunderstanding, Don’t even think that”, talk about how they are judging her and start assuming facts that aren’t true. Like the previous line “ I live in tears and let out sighs every day “ can be found at the beginning of the song, and is a metaphor that roughly talks about how she cries everyday because of how people treat her. The singer later goes on to talk about how angry she is that everyone has treated like horribly and the one person she thought she could confide in also treated her like everyone else. She also talks about how she’s going to move on and pick herself up, so she can be loved just like the person she thought she could confide in ,most likely a friend. The following lines mention what I previously stated, “ I’m so angry,Everyone treated me like you did, baby, Now I’ll erase you and wipe my tears, Something that’s better than yours and different from yours, So I can receive a love like that”. In the end of the song the lines ,that also are repeated more than once, “I’m beautiful without you, I’m meaningful without you, I’m still beautiful, even if I wasn’t loved by you” tell you that she has now given up and is now strong enough. She also calls out the person and tells them she’ll be someone who everyone can love foreshadowing her career as a …show more content…
“I would hold you in my arms, I would take the pain away, Thank you for all you've done, Forgive all your mistakes”, referring back if she’d known what would happen to her loved one she’d say thank you and give them a lot of love. She goes on regretting her choices and wishing she had one more chance to see the one she loves in the lines “There's nothing I wouldn't do, To have just one more chance, To look into your eyes and see you looking back”. At the end of the song she mentions a cliche saying she wants to turn back time but she’s sorry for everything because she did not only hurt her loved one but she hurts herself as well, “It's so out of line, To try and turn back time, I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do, And I've hurt myself by hurting

This song is about a man who resolves to (or is trying to alter his ways) before he starts changing the world. He speaks about how certain situations he has seen has really affected him (e.g. the impoverished children in the streets) and how he desires and feels that to make a really major change, he must start with himself (the man in the mirror.) This song focuses on self-reflection and the inner struggle of one individual to become better, more upright and more moral. It brings about questions such as, “What is the individual’s responsibility to society? Can we change the world by changing ourselves?…

As the video progresses on a scene of the singer coming by to the bar to see his girl he find her suddenly cuddled up to another man! This leaves him devastated and he starts to lose the love he had for her and tries to gain back her love by serenating her. At this point is when I knew little by little that this song was telling my story, because after many arguments me and my partner had I had always tried to do something special for her, not like serenating her, but like asking her to go out to watch a movie, get her a little gift, something to let her know that I truly appreciated her and loved her even though we…

Many of the lyrics refer to the loss of trust in modern America. We had been hit hard by the recession at the time and she describes a man in America who wanted a lot from life. He believes that he can make it in America and says that everyone will know his name. He describes getting everything he wanted, however when he sees how it is impossible he decides to give up his dream and wish he was born again. This entire song just describes the loss of hope in the American Dream.…

Her first few lines " Hey, yo I don 't even know you and I hate you see all I know is that my girlfriend used to date you" lets you know that know that even though she does not know that guy she hates him and what he is doing to her friend. You can feel how Eve is not happy about the abuse that she is seeing unfold right before her eyes. The chorus itself explains "Love is blind, and it will take over your mind what you think is love, is truly not you need to elevate and find" she is saying that when your feelings play a role then its hard to see pass that. That the girl needs to open her eyes and realize what is happening before it is to…

In this song she is saying that she doesn't need anyone to love her and she is better off on her own. Also saying that she has felt better than ever now that she is held down by a relationship. I think transcendentalists will agree with these statements/beliefs because they think being self-reliant is a very important trait. I would also agree with these statements/beliefs because it is better to not always have to depend on other people and you can do some things by yourself. Other people aren't always going to be there to help you out.…

This song talks about the speaker who is abused by her boyfriend but she stands by him because she loves him. This is similar to when we find out that Mayella was abused by her father but still loves him because well, it’s her father. They both show unhealthy relationships and how bad things can be at home. The mood in both of this song and the book is desperate. They are both desperate for love and will do anything to stay by their family/man.…

__I think the meaning of the song that Beyoncé wrote is describing pain and what females have to go to or young teens go through, trying to impress the world, and society. How that all what we do don’t mean anything or how we present ourselves maybe we aren’t too happy on the inside maybe everything isn’t all that’s well. I like the song genre because it really feels like music for our souls trying to heal it also. The new generation now we teenagers are affected by this particular song. I think the most powerful lyrics of the song is “pretty Hurts”, because that is the pain of the song the ultimate feelings that’s what she’s trying to get the audience to understand.…

The songwriter crafted this song in such a way, that the person who is listening to the song is involuntary narrating these lyrics. The narrator in this song is none other than yourself. The songwriter makes you the narrator of the song, so that only you-yourself can make a change. ‘I see the kids in the street, with not enough to eat, who am I , to be blind pretending not to see their needs’- the narration of this song shows you the sad things that happen using your own eyes. That only you have the power to help them, or ignore them.…
