Hard Workouts Too Strenuous on The Heart Have you ever been so mad or upset that you resorted to going on a long run or a sweat enticing work out video? Most would say that they do feel much better after working. Sadly, that is a bad way to burn off some steam. A recent study shows that the combination of high emotions and strenuous exercise may be too much for the heart to handle. This is linked to having a greater risk of having a heart attack within that same hour. Researchers examined data on 12,500 patients from 52 countries that claimed they have only had one heart attack. This was considered an inherent study. Those who took part in that study answered questions regarding their activities that lead up to their heart attack and if they had been strictly participating in a strenuous …show more content…
They were also questioned whether or not they had taken part in those same activities or in that emotional state of mind during the same time of the day the day before their heart attack. One limitation that came to this study was that the participants had to recall their physical activity levels and their emotional state during that certain time period where their memory may not have been all too well. The most interesting piece of information that I took away from reading the article was that physical exertion and emotions can raise blood pressure and the heart rate. Due to this, it changes the flow of the blood through the blood vessels which causes the blood supply to the heart reduce. A question that I would like to ask would be, "What are the effects on those people that do a strenuous workout while they're emotionally upset, but have not had a heart attack?" I would like to learn more about If there are other ways to release endorphins while an individual is emotionally upset without taking part in a strenuous workout
