Since, me and my brother didn’t have raincoats, we had to wear ponchos. After 30 minutes we stopped and ate some candy. It felt like 1,000 miles through wildflowers, switchbacks, we finally made it to Lower Ice Lake Basin. I was so disappointed, because it looked like a ginormous mud pile. So, we decided to go to Upper Ice Lake Basin. Which was around another two miles, and around 1,000ft elevation gain. Before we started we had a quick snack and took off. After, a little more hiking there was another shallow river crossing. Sadly, my foot fell in and was so soaked, you could hear it squeaking. After climbing a lot more steep switchbacks, we finally got to Upper Ice Lake Basin. It was beautiful, the water was as blue as the sky, and the view was breathtaking. It was freezing at the top, so we took some pictures, enjoyed the view, and started heading back. After a long way back we finally got to the car. We hiked 8 miles that day, and I was exhausted. From that hike, I can say that hard work really does pay
