Hard work always has a successful effect and perseverance comes with a good outcome. Adding these together can be possible to achieve things that are wanted. As Dr. T.P. Chia said, “ Hard work does not necessarily guarantee success, but no success is possible without hard work”. In the book, Hatchet, there was a boy named Brian who settled down in the woods after the plane crashed because of the pilot's heart attack. He is in the wilderness with only his hatchet to survive and many challenges are expected in him. Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen has many themes and one is hard work with perseverance will earn success. Brian understands that things has to be earned. He needs to learn from his mistakes with powerful thinking and also hard work to achieve things that he wants. Each day contains many challenges, such as hunger, and pressure that is awaiting Brian in the wood. As Brian notice that he wasn’t able to make fire, he realized that, “ The sparks grew twith his gentle breath.” Once Brian realized that the fire grew by his breath and sparks, he was able to make fire. Brian took his time to learn that the fire needs more tree barks. Brian’s understanding of the fire gave him have more cook food in the wood. …show more content…
He uses his thoughts with experience to understand what he did wrong. There's always mistakes that happens in the life living at the wood, but using the experience Brian learn in the wood made him understood them more. As Brian realizes that he wasn’t able to catch the fish, he notices that “ Water refracts bend light, the fish were not where they appeared to be. They were lower, just below, which meant he had to aim just under them.” Once Brian discovered that, he was able to have cook fish for food. Brian took many times to think about his mistakes that he needs to aim under them. This understanding will lead Brian to more food in the
