Thanksgiving, a holiday deeply rooted in American culture, is celebrated in accordance with the applicable tradition and rituals. Closely related to the tradition of first immigrants, Thanksgiving does not undergo any fashions and fluctuations. Thanksgiving Turkey has to be big ( 19 lbs) to feed 20 people and to provide much more food than during the regular meal (Friends). Thanksgiving dinner without turkey and typical dishes does not exist, like “4th July with no pie”(Friends). By consuming and celebrating food, people show their appreciation for all they achieved due to their social and national affiliation.…

On September 20th, the day of our picnic, God gave us a beautiful day filled with plenty of sunshine and cool breezes. So many of our brothers and sisters from other fraternity’s took part in our annual picnic and shared in Franciscan companionship. As I looked around the grounds of the friary and saw our Franciscan Charism flowing among those in attendance, I thought to myself this is what our Charism is all about, sharing, loving, caring, allowing the Holy Spirit to move in us and through others. Thanks to all for the wonderful job in pulling this picnic together.…
The Humble feast menu included beet borsht, mushroom leek risotto, kale spring salad, and peach crisp as dessert. The menu sounded great from first glance especially since I typically eat sandwiches for lunch or frozen food for dinners on the weekend. When the presenter announced where the food was sourced and produced, I felt better knowing that kind of information. I usually don’t know much about the food I eat since I eat alone and sadly don’t really care about that fact. On the table was a sheet that listed the ingredients of each dish and how to cook it.…
I attend a small high school,Coosa High School, which is in Rome, Georgia. I love my school, but I also love the community that surrounds my school. Over the past three years I have been at Coosa High School, an issue came to my realization. Coosa High School is a Title 1 school, meaning that Coosa has a high percentage of children from low-income families, because of that my school is provided with financial assistance to ensure all students reach their goals. Due to the fact that Coosa is a Title 1 high school, the amount of students that receive free and reduced lunch is rather high.…

I have fulfill the agency’s mission by volunteering at the food bank and being an active participant in organizing and sorting food.…
It was Thanksgiving morning and heading to downtown Detroit. It wasn’t my typical Thursday morning with the sun glaring through the glass beating down on my face. I was with my best friend, Josh, and his family. I remember his mom saying “Helping those less fortunate is more rewarding than you think guys.” Didn’t think feeding homeless a Thanksgiving dinner was fun, I was ignorant tot the idea of it, but I didn’t know going to help less fortunate would open up a perspective on life I did not know about.…
Do you ever think how you use your senses on Thanksgiving day? On the day of Thanksgiving you pretty much use all of your senses. In this essay I will explain how I use my five senses on the day of Thanksgiving. Have you ever watched your parents, aunts/ uncles, or even your grandparents prepare the food? When it’s around Thanksgiving time I help my mom prepare a lot of food.…

Thanksgiving. What comes to mind? Delicious turkey, family, and the beautiful colors of the fall. Those may be the images to some. As a little kid, I remember reading a short story of the First Thanksgiving.…
It's Thanksgiving evening. My family and relatives sit around our table, decorated with cartoon turkeys and fall leaves. A big, juicy turkey sits in the middle of the table with gravy and cranberry sauce by it’s side. We go around the table, stating what we are thankful for. “I am thankful for...”…
