It is literary because it talks about events that happen in real life although this one is one of the less gory ones. Robbing someone's place was something a lot of people did, especially after the Civil War because most of the people didn’t have money to buy food so they will starve which would lead them to rob other people. Most of the time when the thief is found they kill the witness, that is why this story is more toward the happy side. When someone robs someone else it is likely that they usually know who it is because that is they way they know that they at least have something, however this is not always the case. That is why they kill witness to save them from the embarrassment that they robbed someone they knew. Nevertheless, this story is happier than most robberies the thief got what they wanted and the family is safe and sound. This story is literary because of that same reason, after the Civil War there were more difficulties than usual. Work was harder to find and this caused money to become a sacred thing. It was even more difficult since the US was trying to rebuild

The stories one encounters when they are older have more critical and realistic perspectives on certain situations. 1984 and Elysium are excellent examples of this. Both of the protagonists in these works are anti-heroes who struggle to fit in and thrive in their societies.…

“Does Peace Have a Chance?” written by John Horgan was published in Slate magazine in 2009 on the topic of war and human nature. Horgan argues that, despite popular opinion, human nature is not innately violent and that peace is possible amongst the human race. The author supports his thesis through statistics on mortality caused by war, anthropological studies of hunter-gatherer societies, and the decline of large scale warfare. In general, Horgan’s essay style is effective in persuading the audience to consider his opinion after reading. Although the author makes poor comparisons and lacks in some definitions, he successfully utilises narration and description to engage the audience, prove the credibility of both himself and his facts, and…
