And although he seemed to be happy all on his own apart from his family in the end he really wasn 't. At the end of the book he writes “happiness is only real when shared” this tells the reader that he would have preferred to have someone to share his experience with him.
Chris also made the claim about how people live within unhappy circumstances but won 't do anything to change it and I find this to be true. Everyday when I go to work at least one of my coworkers will say “I hate my job.” Although they say they hate their job on a daily basis they are still there day after day. If Chris was in that situation he would have quit and gone off to do his own thing wherever he wanted, although it works for him it does not work for everyone.
People that have families and bills to pay must make sacrifices and take care of the important things. For example one simply quits a job because they don 't like it how are they going to feed their family? Some may say they can go out and find a new job, but how long is that going to take? If a person keeps quitting jobs and finding new ones sooner or later they will have no job, no one will want to hire them after they find out that they have quit every job they 've
