Although his reasons were coherent, I do think his view on not hiring family is kind of unfair. If a family member is just as good as the best employee in your cooperation then I do not see why they should not be allowed to work for you. After all, the point is to have the best of the best, right? I do get where he is coming from when saying that it is hard to fire family, but if that particular family member is a professional then he/she should be professional enough to understand the decision. I also feel that this is true when he said not to hire “liberal Democrats or right-wing Republicans”. Democrats believe that everyone should be treated equally. But if a Democrat were to work for one of the most prestigious companies in the world, they would know that in order to sustain a successful company, not everything is going to be fair. Oxford mentioned that “you don’t want right-wing types who really don’t understand how the world works and lack the emotional intelligence to get over anything that bothers them,” but if that person is good enough to work for such a company then their political views should intervene with their work or they just might not be qualified for the job. Aside from those things, Oxford supported his statements thoroughly and perfectly explained what is needed in a workplace in order to run a successful business. He included every aspect a future business owner would need such as what employees will be of value to them and that trusting one another is essential to managing a hard-working company. Anyone who aspires to manage a business should read this piece of work for advice on how to take on the business
