It is paramount that people feel and realize that they have a purpose in life. Without purpose, a person may perceive themselves as being lost, stuck, or depressed. People who are goal oriented and have a sense of purpose may oftentimes feel that they are more satisfied in life. Setting goals may provide structure, stability, and the insight one needs to reach their destiny. A person 's goal size is entirely up to them. They can be minuscule goals, for instance, taking an extra moment each day to breathe, or grandiose such as climbing to the top of Mt. Everest. One individuals purpose in life may differ from another. One may come to realize that they are meant to be a teacher, while another may realize their purpose is to be a mother or an architect. Life requires balance and people who embrace this concept may thrive. Moving forward too quickly can result in dreadful consequences. Although it is possible that hard-work and earned success can bring about happiness, success at the expense of all else, can lead to depression, fear, anger, etc. In addition to balance, laughter is another instrument that can help lead a person to happiness. Life can be simpler with just a little amount of laughter. Dr. William R. Klemm suggested that humor improved longevity. This is due to laughter being able to reduce blood pressure, lower blood glucose, dull pain, alleviate stress and anxiety, etc (Klemm). There are many comedians who have lived long and productive lives for the basic reason that they knew and embraced the belief that comedy added happiness to life. People can be happy if they maintain a positive disposition and learn to find humor in everyday life. In contrast, Is there anything else? Can people pursue their goals and maintain a sense of humor and still be unhappy? The answer to this question is seemingly yes.
