Hansel And Gretel Observation

On Friday, November 17, 2017, I had the pleasure to watch Hansel and Gretel opera. I really like Hansel and Gretel opera because I never see a Hansel and Gretel movie or any opera show like this before. Hansel and Gretel's opera was my first opera show I saw and I really like it. First, I thought I going to hate this show, but I end up really love the story. If I have to choose my least favorite act of the night it has to be Act 1 because I only saw Hansel and Gretel singing just opera. But Act 2 and Act 3 was my favor there are lots of action and more people are involved in the show. Example the witch, angels, and gingerbread children

This past Friday, I had the opportunity to see Dr. Rachel Whitcomb's performance in PNC Recital Hall, titled "Back on my Feet Again. " This was a country, blues, and bluegrass concert coming from a vocalist and professor with a classical learning background. It centered around a theme that although a knowledge of classical techniques is important for any singer, they should still try to incorporate their own unique musical techniques into their teaching or performance repertoire. The beginning of the concert featured a digital presentation that questioned what "appropriate" music should be considered and who has the authority to decide what should be performed by formal singers. The questions were all rhetorical and would later be answered by Dr. Whitcomb throughout her performance.…

The event that I decided to go was BYU Baroque Ensemble, a production made by BYU students, taking place at Madsen Recital Hall Harris Fine Arts Center on November 3. The idea of making a baroque orchestra is where musician get together to make a perfect composition of music, the baroque orchestra is made up mostly of stringed instruments, when you listen you feel something different that makes you see it from another perspective, you just can’t stop listening and focus on every note that the musicians are playing. The type of instruments that were utilized in conjunction were the basso continuo, played by a viol, cello or bassoon. Other parts were added between the melody and the bass by a keyboard instrument, usually a harpsichord or organ and the development of tonal harmony, in which the melodic voices movement remains under the functional chord progression.…

In 42nd Street there was a lot of dancing and excitement. I loved all the costumes, especially Dorothy Brock's final red dress with ruffles. In beginning the musical started with a very upbeat tap dance. I also loved how realistic the sound effect of the gun shot was. If I had to pick my favorite part it was when Julian Marsh had his finale of Forty-Second Street Reprise.…

On March 25th at 8:00 pm in the Staller Center, Stony Brook symphonic orchestra with Glen B. Cortese as the conductor performed three musical pieces. One of the musical pieces is Schumann’s Symphony No.3 in E flat major or the “Rhenish” symphony originally composed by Robert Schumann. The symphony, which divides into five movements, shows the importance of structural arrangement in musical composition to develop the audience’s emotions in certain directions. Movement I:lebhaft sets up the main theme of the movement by opening with a major melody at an allegro pace.…

Most kids are vulnerable so in the different version of “Hansel and Grehtel” the predictor uses that to their advantage. In the story “The Rose Tree” the little girl was scared and upset about not being able to bring home the candles. The stepmother “pretended not to mind the loss” so that the little girl will calm down. Most parents would try to calm their kids down because their kids would usually mean more to them then some material object. Grethel was so relieved that she was not in trouble about that the candle that she did whatever the stepmom asked of her without second guessing it.…

Over all, I enjoyed the musical Spring Awakening. I thought it portrayed how religion was so strict during this time well. It also opens people’s eyes to show that there are students, parents, and teachers who go through life experiences like this and that if we are very open about everything including sex then we can work through these situations. I enjoy the theater as well, although it was small, the way it was set up was like you were part of the show being only 3 feet away from the actors.…

Nearly everyone has heard, if not read for themselves, the story of “Hansel and Gretel”. The story of two young kids lost in the woods, who get captured by a witch, and ultimately escape. It is a classic story. In fact, the story follows Joseph Campbell’s “The Hero’s Journey”, which provides a guide that most fairy tales follow, almost verbatim. In this book, Campbell suggest that certain elements are common throughout all stories.…

Even though I could not see the performer because he was hide behind the organ, I could feel that I was putting a lot of energy in this piece to make it dramtic. Charles Perrault’s “Little Red Riding Hood” and Brothers Grimm’s “Hansel and Gretel” are two well-known fairytales in today’s society. Both tales incorporate the key literary elements that define a typical fairy tale. The significance in these specific elements comes from the effect they have on the plot and the consequential moral of the tale. Although “Little Red Riding Hood and “Hansel and Gretel” are two texts with distinct differences regarding their plots, the characters, setting, and themes incorporated into both respective tales relate closely to each other. These similarities largely identify the shared intention of the fairy tale authors for creating their individual tale and the significance of the certain themes and morals that…
