Hans Christian Andersen Research Paper

Hans Christian Andersen was born on April 2, 1805, in Odense, Denmark. Although Andersen’s family does not belong to a rich class, he studied for 7 years in the University of Copenhagen, and became one of the world’s greatest storytellers, mainly fairy tales. He was a lonely, but passionate, and optimistic young man. He succeed with his novel “The Improviser”, in 1835. His journeys through Europa, Africa, and Asia increased, and his talent flourished while writing more novels, poems, fairy tales, and books, not only for adults, but also for children. His first collection of children’s stories was published in 1835, named “Tales Told for Children”. Famous tales include in this collection are “The Ugly Duckling”, “The Princess and the Pea”, and “The Little Mermaid”; most of them are based on his own life and experiences. In 1855, he wrote his autobiography titled, “The Fairy Tale of My Life”. Through the years, the translation of his work has influenced many authors worldwide. He was the last one of the brood to hatch, and then he was extremely big and ugly, compared to his brothers and sisters. All animals on the farm rejected him, made fun of him, and even beat him. He ran away and during his journey, he suffered a lot because many bullied him. At the end of the story, when the spring comes, he was surprised that a flock of swans accepts him as one of them. Then, he saw his image in the water; he realized that he had grown into a beautiful white swan. Finally, his misery ended, and his dreams come
