A Character Analysis Of Hannah Swensen from Fudge Cupcake Murder
Lou Holtz once said, “Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it”. This quote is displayed in many ways during the book. The main characters reveals more than the reader expects. Hannah Swenson, a young girl, is dating the head of the Sheriff's Department, Mike Kingston. She owns a small cookie store in the town of Lake Eden, called “The Cookie Jar”. Hannah has an older sister, Andrea, is married to Bill, a detective at the Sheriff station. When Hannah found the Sheriff dead in the dumpster of the school parking lot, Hannah was in complete shock. Bill has been accused as one of the suspects of the Sheriff who was recently murdered. Bill and the Sheriff were both running for the head of the Sheriff station. Before the allegation, Bill and the Sheriff got into an argument over the campaign. Bill told the Sheriff that he would kill him. This caused suspicion that Bill could be the culprit for the murder. When Mike Kingston found out that the Sheriff was murdered, he immediately suspended Bill due to the earlier argument, as well as Bill had no alibi for being home during the time of the murder. Hannah is very lucky to have supportive friends at “The Cookie Jar” especially when she takes on the case of finding the murder and coming up with an alibi for Bill. During a conversation about Bill and the murder, Hannah's friend Lisa continues to ask her questions, “‘You're going to solve the case and clear Bill’ Lisa interrupted. ‘Of course you will what else can you do? You’ll save him Hannah.’”(Fluck 43). Hannah was trying to help her brother-in-law, but she was also trying to solve the case as Bill is not able of doing it at the moment. Hannah was able to eventually find a great alibi for Bill. Before the reader knows it, Bill is back on the case. But Hannah won’t let this case down as she continues to help not knowing her life is at
