I learned about her reasoning for joining the British Army, her being a poet and diarist and all the bodies of work she left behind inspiring many generations, and her legacy. To many people in Israel, Senesh is a symbol of idealism and self-sacrifice. Senesh was in her twenties when she joined the British Army. Stated in the Jewish Virtual Library, “The operations purpose was to contact the partisan resistance fighters and to help the Allied forces in Europe” meaning they were to parachute into Europe and help the soldiers and Jews. When reading Fire In My Heart: About the Exhibition, it states that “In the summer of 1943, Senesh accepted an invitation and participated in a training unit to learn how to parachute into Europe for the Jewish remnant, and the effort to defeat the …show more content…
Her unfortunate and devastating death made her poems famous; they reveal a woman infused with hope, even when facing injurious assets. Being the daughter of an author, she showed her own scholarly expertise and from age thirteen until shortly after her death she kept a diary (Hannah Senesh). Based on the Jewish Virtual Library it states, “Her diary and literary works were later published, and many of her more popular poems have been set to music.” In other words her poems became popular and inspiring to others who have read them. Hannah Senesh left behind a great legacy. Based on reading The Real Hannah Senesh Honoring a Jewish Hero stated that, “Her worldview and outlook on Israel and Judaism is one that can resonate with those struggling to find the balance between our national, ethnic, and religious identities.” She was greatly known and had an impact on the world because of what she did.
