Hannah was a bright, beautiful young girl who unfortunately had her life taken away from her by the hands of others. It all started with Justin, who wanted so badly to prove to his friends his worth he ruined her life. This was tape number one. Before Hannah committed suicide she made 13 tapes. The tapes were about the 13 reasons why she killed herself. As the tapes go on you learn more and more about how this young girl withstood this horrible amount of pain. With this pain, the actions of others killed Hannah baker. Betrayal, violence and love, things that at points in our life we all feel and they also had a big role in the suicide of Hannah baker.

Hannah felt as though all of her friends had betrayed her. That not even her closest friend clay was there for her when she needed him the most. Being betrayed makes you feel anxious to start new friendships and makes you feel lowly about yourself. “Hannah takes Justin's betrayal so seriously because it affects her life in real ways. Guys think they can touch her without permission, and girls think she's stealing their boyfriends. This betrayal contributes a great deal to her isolation”.

From getting hit to getting sexually abused, Hannah couldn't get enough. As though constant harassment coming from others around her wasn't enough, Hannah felt alone like no one could help her. “Below the table, my fingers were fighting to pry your fingers off.
