Background of the problem Handicapped people suffer greatly in Lebanon in the absence of the adequate facilities, treatments, and education. Those people face many difficulties in performing tasks in their everyday life, while they lack a safe and comfortable accommodation and means of transportation; in addition to finding an acceptable job that provides a source of a good living.
Need for the study and authorization Therefore, researching such topic is a necessity in Lebanon, in order to understand the nature and source of the handicapped needs and find the proper solutions to fulfill at least their basic requirements. Literature Handicapped individuals are gifted human beings who have a mental or physical disability. Individuals could be born handicapped or be one during their lifetime. Many people are blessed to be born with great cognitive, physical, psychological, and sensory abilities; however, there are those who are not born with the same capabilities. When it comes to socializing, people always prefer to have fun with those who have good health. They forget the fact that handicapped are also humans like them. They want to meet people and hang out, they want to have visitors, and to enjoy and live their lives. Sadly, handicaps are usually neglected; therefore; they have a low social status. However, many countries have solutions for this case. They allow handicapped to join to communities and social activities. They are allowed to be athletics, take cooking classes or volunteer in some organizations where they can meet people and be entertained. Moreover, many handicapped are lucky enough to live in a safe and peaceful neighborhood, where they have friendly and trustworthy neighbors who visit them, play cards or board games or accompany them for a walk in a nearby garden or park. On the contrary, in some cases handicapped are obliged to stay at home due to the lack of appropriate buildings or streets that are built regarding their situation. In instance, most of the time those who are in a wheelchair cannot attend an event, because the building does not provide an elevator or a way that handicapped can go upstairs.
