Hand Writting And Technology Essay

Decent Essays
In these two essays, two authors talk about their opinions of writing. One talks about how cursive is beneficial to the brain, and the other talks about how hand writing is no longer needed because we have technology. These two authors both have valid points on the subject, in my opinion its great to use both handwritting and technology. I do agree that hand writing makes us remember things easily rather than typing. Growing up our teachers always had us writing notes in class. It made it easier for us when we had to re-read our notes to study for a test becuase, our brain have already processed everything it just needed a boost to refresh our memory. Our notes were always a huge part of our class grade. All tho, hand writting has it benefits

Cursive is faster to write because if students take notes on computer they may fall behind and miss some very important notes that are probably going to be question on a test. Also studies have found out the kids that took notes by hand performed better on a test then those who took notes by computer. Cursive is not being taught that much anymore, so that means the kids in college are not going to do as good as they us to do because of computer taking over. Soon all notes will be taken on computers.…

And to help them know more knowledge and so that its helpful to them in every way possible. The reasons why i agree with the first article " I think cursive writting is powerful to the brain " is because of the strong facts in the passages to prove how it is helpful to the people. And how i think cursive is just a really good learning skill we as people may not use cursive writting as much but its still good to know. The reasons why i don't think cursive writting is powerful to the brain is because in the second article it says that in 2012 only 37% teachers wrote in cursive on their surveys.…

My teachers had us write down our notes for class and i would write in cursive. Usually i dont have such good memory but when i wrote my notes down i would be more likely to pass my tests in that class. It was easier to remember what i had just written other than having to go back and remember what we had just written. In the passage " Cursive Is a Good Brain Tool " the author states in paragraph 2 " writing by hand helps individuals remember ideas better than typing.…

I think cursive handwriting is not very important for someone to learn. The reason i say that is beacuse people live threw technology on a daily basis. We do not really need to learn the importance of cursive handwritting because, no one will need to really write anymore if everything is done threw technology. As the narrator stated in the passage "technology is moving at such a rapid pace that even keyboards may soon be in danger of extinction". Just knowing something like that most people cant even type as much as they should know how.…

The debate between keeping or removing cursive handwriting is one I have had multiple times with my two children when they have come home complaining about their schoolwork. I firmly believe that it no longer has its uses outside of school in todays society. As author two stated in paragraph 3; "The truth is that cursive writing is virtually gone. Handwriting has taken a backseat to typing as technology dominates the way we communicate. " We currently live in a time where cursive has no place to be used on a daily basis.…

In my opinion, based off the two articles i just read and my own personal experience, public school students should always have the right to choose a cursive or handwriting elective class. But i also do not believe that cursive should be a graduation requirement for high school students. In these times cursive is just becoming a nice skill to have aquired. What ifluenced me from article 1 was all the benefits of cursive he was naming, but there wasnt much evidence to support his theory so i had a hard time completely believing him. Quotes like " Medical brain scans show that writing in cursive helps with fine motor-skill development and stimulates both the right and left parts of the brain. "…
