At Hampton University I have responsibility as the recently elected Vice President of our National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) chapter our chapter has been inactive for the past couple of years, but this coming year we hope to revitalize it and run for Chapter of the Year Award. There are several ideas that we have either completed or are extremely close to completing. The most major of which is an event named STEM week which is comprised of several days of networking, mentorship and workshops for new engineering students and interviews with local STEM companies for upperclassmen. In a working environment there’s an extremely high value for someone that can effectively communicate and organize groups of people, and for STEM week the skills

It represents how many people will need to come to break even. When 241 people show up, the budget will break even. Gradually, as 241 breaks even, $2410 will be our current revenue. The reason that it is 241 people and not 240 is because if you had 240 people show up, the revenue would be 2400, the cost is $2007.19 and you can’t go below budget. As time progresses, our current flow of revenue will make a significant increase.…

Through participation in these organizations, I have learned cooperation, teamwork and time management. By serving as an officer, I have also gained responsibility, as well as problem solving and communication skills. FFA has opened doors to new leadership roles at both a local and multi-county level. I have been given the opportunity to serve as Teutopolis Chapter and Section 20 Reporter and Vice President.…

Weekly Reflection #1 My biggest take-away from the readings is the author talked about nonprofit competition with For-Profit Businesses. With the development of profit corporate company, nonprofit and voluntary sector faces a lot of challenges and raises difficult questions of strategy. Author analyzed some biggest disadvantages when nonprofit against with profitmaking company. First, nonprofit organizations always don’t have enough budgets and most smaller organizations don’t have enough expectance to deal with the technology and management problems.…

Reflecting WRTG 101 Writing has always been a personal experience for me. I have pages and pages of journal entries from various times throughout my life. Writing used to be an outlet for me to get the thoughts out of my head that I didn’t quite understand, or even a way to freeze a moment in time. My writing has always had such a personal voice on it that I would get negative remarks through high school. The teacher would tell me, “amazing writing, but you write as if you are speaking”.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

The first booth I visited was NSBE. I talked to Elizabeth Agwaife, who answered all of my questions. The purpose of NSBE is “to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community”. Though the B stands for black, it is open to all races. Yearly, they host the Feed the Culture BBQ, which was on September 9th.…

I wouldn’t say this is a speech, but more of a reflection on my four years of high school. When I was told that this assignment was meant to give advice to the low classmen and show my fellow teachers how I have enbody the EPAA Vision through accomplishments and mistakes; well let me tell you that I had three mental breakdowns, and slept on it for a couple day until I came up with something to write. In my four years of high school I have experienced a significant amount of bad things and a few good things. I would list more bad things then good if I was asked the question, How has high school shaped me and what advice would I give? For example, I have been a runaway, almost dropped out and lived in a group home for a while.…

I would have to say that the "go center" has been a really big help this year for me. They have helped me out with applying to schools, scholarships, financial aid, and weavers for SAT/ACT exams.…

I was fortunate enough to attend the 2016 H. W. Sumners Leadership Conference where I would have the opportunity to meet a unique pool of influential individuals. Most of my leadership experiences had come from group projects with students who I were familiar with, and the conference gave me the chance to become a team with strangers from across the United States and Mexico. I was not aware of how much I was actually going to get out of the conference. Through the elective workshops, I learned much more about my leadership style and who I could become as a leader. Through the speakers, I learned about the power of creating a vision and pursuing with unyielding faith.…
