Hammurabi’s Code: Was it Just? Hit you your father, You will be left with no hands. King Hammurabi ruled for 42 years. He became king of babylon. He created 292 laws And they were wrote on stone. He had many laws that had harsh discipline if you didn't follow the rules. He wrote the laws to keep the people in order. We will be discussing was Hammurabi’s code just? First you will have to know what “just” means. The meaning of just means fair. I believe that Hammurabi's code was just “fair”. In this essay i will be discussing Hammurabi's laws being fair. One of the laws state “if a man has broken Through a wall (to rob) a house, they shall put him to death and pierce him, or hang in in the hole in the wall which he has made.” I believe that it is fair because he had done damage to ones home and tried to take things that were not his. I don't think that you should do that so that's why i think the laws are fair to everyone.
Hammurabi's laws that deal with Personal injury are fair because it is saying if you do something to someone you get the same thing done to you. Law 196 states if a man has knocked out the eye of a free man, his eye shall be knocked out. This is saying that you will get things done to you that you do to other people so you suffer the same pain they are going through. I think it is fair because you get to feel the same pain that the other person goes through so it makes people not want to do the bad things to other people.
I believe that all hammurabi's laws were fair because they had reasons to punish people that did wrong. The laws made it fair to everyone. Some of the laws had very cruel punishments like cutting hands off and cutting eyes out. So i believe that hammurabi's laws were
