In Law 196 ¨If a man has knocked out the eye of a free man,his eye shall be knocked out. In Law 199 ¨If he has knocked out the eye of a slave...he shall pay half his value.¨(Doc E) These laws are just because a free man is worth more and lives in the upper class. The slave is worth less but at least he is getting payed half of his value.
