In the begining, Hamlet has gone threw drastically insane things from what I have read and understood from the book. His father dying the his uncle marrying his mother. Why wouldn't anyone go at least a little insane? Having an " Uncle- Father" would be very uncomfortable and akward. You'd have to really love your uncle to be at least a little accepting of that idea. In the play a few people declared Hamlet as "mad". The first to declare him mad is Polonius, he believes that the reason hes going mad is because Ophelia refuesed to accept the love Hamlet gives her. Hamlet with the old man leads him to admit "Though this be madness, yet there is method in't." Also Hamlets line " to be, or not to be" questions whether or not he should be here
