Both characters purposely act different for others issues as a cover up. For example, Hamlet has a specific scene in which he admits to his dearest friend that he will be acting insane to get the truth out of Claudius. “How strange or odd soe’er I bear myself As I perchance hereafter shall think meet To put an antic disposition on,” (I.v.923-925), where Hamlet decides that this would be the best way to appear to the kingdom in order to receive the truth that he desires.
