Hamlet Response

Personal response:
I believe the reason why I found Hamlet so enjoyable was because it was a tragedy. So many actions and choices made to truly win nothing. By the end of it was never shown if the ghost was redeemed. Hamlet falls along with everyone else with no clear victor.
Plot:
After the death of the late King Hamlet his brother, Claudius, ascended the throne and wed the Queen. Prince Hamlet was not keen to the ordeal and was set onto the path of revenge once his father’s ghost appeared. The ghost of the late King Hamlet told his son that in order to redeem his father Hamlet must rid of his father’s murderer, Claudius.

Characterization:
I always liked a hint of madness in a character so I’ll characterize Hamlet. Hamlet was a man of thought and a good actor. Along with that he was witty with an extremely large vocabulary. He wanted to be a man of action, but the only times he did was when chaos ensued like during Polonius’ death or the end of the book.

Setting:
Hamlet takes place in the kingdom of Elsinore in Denmark, in

Hamlet’s path of revenge upon Claudius began when his deceased father appeared. While going down that path Hamlet killed Polonius which set Laertes down the path. Laertes went after Claudius at first until Claudius redirected it towards Hamlet. Before the beginning of the book, Late King Hamlet killed Old Fortinbras in combat and lost some of Norway’s land. Young Fortinbras showed that he wanted to take revenge upon Denmark and reclaim the land, but it was ceased by his uncle.

Recommendation: I found Hamlet to be fairly enjoyable. I rated it a four out of five stars. I would recommend it to either gender over the age of thirteen. I say thirteen because of the topic of incest and either gender because Shakespeare made it to appeal to both genders along with all social classes. This book is a good start to anyone who wants to begin reading William Shakespeare’s

Ultimately, Hamlet’s downfall is only because the ghost told him specifically he wanted Claudius dead, and due to the strong father-son relationship that Hamlet had with his previously alive father, he acted without hesitation. “As meditation or the thoughts of love, May sweep to my revenge” (Act I, scene V). At the core of all of Hamlet’s emotions is love, and the deep connection he had with his father. Once Hamlet experienced a world without his father, his exterior became insane, his interior became awfully depressed, and his actions thoughtless. There is no factual knowledge that the ghost was actually his father, but at that point it did not have to be.…

On Thursday 15th October, my mother, father, I, and 225,000 other people watched the National Theatre Live's production of Shakespeare's Hamlet. And it was bloody brilliant. Benedict Cumberbatch's Hamlet was outstandingly compelling, and engrossing, and stirring, and left me with my heart in my hands. I am no experienced Shakespearean drama critic, in fact I hold my hands up and admit that I am a complete armature of his works, and even struggled my way through the GCSE content for Shakespeare. So I am defiantly not with the likes of the guy behind me who made some very middle-classed comments on the chronological inaccuracy compared to the core literary text.…

Looking at Hamlet in William Shakespeare’s play Hamlet, one can try to depict Hamlet’s mind from learning about his Id, Ego, and Super-Ego through his words. His Id, Ego, and Super-Ego are consistently at play in Hamlet’s mind because of his decisions. The Id, “is the unorganized part of the psyche that contains a human’s instinctual drives” (Siegfried). When Hamlet interacts with the ghost of his dead father, and learns about his uncle’s doings, he wants immediate revenge on Claudius and his mother, Gertrude. Hamlet becomes conflicted on how to obtain his revenge for his father’s death, “This is most brave/ That I, the son of a dear father murder’d,/ Prompted to my revenge by heaven and hell, Must like a whore unpack my heart with words” (2.2.569-573).…

The Tragedy of Hamlet by William Shakespeare describes the drama of a young Prince, Hamlet, who is seeking revenge for his father’s murder. Claudius, King Hamlet’s greedy brother, takes the throne of Denmark by killing King Hamlet and marrying his widowed queen, Gertrude. The murder of King Hamlet is violent and evil, but it contributes to the greater meaning of the entire play. The ghost of the former King Hamlet has multiple appearances and plays an important role in telling the oblivious Hamlet about his murderous brother. Although, throughout the performance, the Ghost’s trustworthiness is an unknown factor in Hamlet’s strategic plan to cleanse Denmark of its corruption.…
