Dishonesty is the main cause of deaths of many characters in Hamlet, the biggest act of deception is between Claudius and Hamlet’s father. Claudius murders his own brother; who is Hamlet's father who is the king of Denmark, Claudius killed Hamlet’s father by dropping poison into his ear. The King's death was said to have been by snakebite, and Claudius now gets married to Queen Gertrude (Hamlet's mother), and is now the new King of Denmark. Claudius is deceiving Hamlet into believing that the King was killed by a snakebite, and Claudius is deceiving Hamlet into believing that he only wants the best for Denmark. The only reason that Claudius is deceiving to protect himself from everyone finding out that he was the one who murdered the king. This comes shows that people will do anything for power even if means killing their own brother just to be king. Many will agree that Claudius’s greed what led to his deception of his Brother and his people.
