Within the first two acts of the play, Shakespeare reveals to the readers many conflicts Hamlet has experienced in his lifetime thus far. His strained parent relationship, the murder of his father, and a quick remarriage that he disapproves of are all events that have caused Hamlet to experience such grief. It may seem difficult to connect with Hamlet’s trials in the twenty-first century because the play was written long ago, but by placing ourselves in modern day experiences that are similar we recognize some of the battles he fought. Once he found out that Claudius poisoned his father, his reaction was to get back at him. He even started making plans about a play that would reenact his father’s murder to see his uncle’s reaction. Many times in modern day society, if someone does you wrong your immediate reaction is to get back at them, just like Hamlet hopes to. Although someone may not go as far as Hamlet did to plan an entire play, we still try to retaliate. The continuous hardships and extreme tragedies forced him to seek vengeance. Hamlet is a play that revolves around this theme of revenge and in the first two acts he is just starting his revenge plan. Just like in Hamlet, in today’s society people still strive to seek retaliation against
