Director Franco Zeffirelli’s Hamlet Is a 2 hour 15 minute movie adaptation from 1990 of the Tragedy Hamlet by William Shakespeare that takes place in middle age Denmark. A young prince of Denmark vows to avenge his father’s murder. The movie and play are filled with themes one being revenge. Hamlet seeks revenge against his uncle for murdering his father. Laertes seeks revenge against Hamlet for killing his father Polonius. ** Add Thesis ** The movie begins at the funeral of Hamlet’s father with Claudius already crowned King and Gertrude weeping for her dead husband. Soon after Gertrude marries her dead husband's brother Claudius. This troubles Hamlet as the wedding was so close to the funeral that they used the leftovers for the wedding dinner.
