Hamlet and The Lion King

Hamlet and The Lion King have many different similarities. There are only a few situations that differ between the two. Some of the similar situations are that both kings were murdered by their brothers and both princes have to overcome a moral struggle; a difference is that Simba’s story is generally a happy story and Hamlet’s story is a tragedy. In the movie The Lion King, Mufasa was murdered by his brother Scar. In Hamlet the King Hamlet was murdered by his brother Claudius. Scar and Claudius wanted to be king so bad they did not care who they hurt to get there. Mufasa was pushed off a cliff by his brother. Although King Hamlet was poisoned in his ear while he was sleeping, both of the kings returned as ghost to talk to their sons. Mufasa told Simba to take his place as king, and King Hamlet told Hamlet to get revenge on his murderer. Simba has to stop running from his past and step up to take his place as king. He has not been back home since Scar ran him off so many years ago. So he is scared that Scar will run all over him again. He has to face his past and do what his father and the kingdom needs him to do. Hamlet has to make the decision whether to kill his uncle or not. After he proves that Claudius kills his father he had the opportunity to kill him in the church while he was confessing his sins, but he knew that if he did so it would not punish him because he would go to heaven. Also, he had to figure out if he wanted to kill himself or not. He feels as though he is helpless and cannot do anything to get revenge on his uncle now. So he contemplates on killing himself during his famous soliloquy “To be, or not to be is the question..” on page 76-78 in the book The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of
