Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton were two men who wanted change in the political party system. This is where the two new political parties were created, the Federalist party and the Democratic-Republicans. These two new forms of government brought new and different ideas on how to run a federal government. Most candidates of today still follow these ways of thinking, but their ideals are much less extreme, but also these ideas could be applied to some of the problems of today. Alexander Hamilton started his political career as an advisor to Washington during his presidency.During this time, he began to see the weaknesses in the federal government and began to think of new ways to approach these weaknesses. There are many candidates that are either Jeffersonian or Hamiltonian, some of these include Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders. Donald Trump would be seen as Hamiltonian. This is due to his radical way of thinking, wanting to remove all of the immigrants in the US, this follows the Hamilton ideal of loosely following the constitution. On the other hand, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders would both be Jeffersonian. Clinton would be Jeffersonian due to her position in the current presidency as Secretary of State, but she also wants to improve the health care system already in place and she feels that immigrants should be able to gain citizenship. Similarly Bernie Sanders wants to help the people of the United States, he feels that everyone should be treated equally, and the class system should become balanced again with the help of a lower college tuition rate and more jobs for people who have lost …show more content…
These views have stayed through time to be shown in the presidential candidates of today. They can also determine if something being thought is right or not to be passed through congress, depending on what has the most votes. Even though Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton have been gone for a long time, their views on how a government should be ran have stayed in the minds of the people who not just run the government but also the people who decide to run for
