Body: I endured a couple of hardships and through that struggle, picked up bad habits and thinking patterns. My views on life and people and circumstance and morals were simply wrong. My friend, Zoe (who later decided that we were in fact, not friends) told me about this girl called Halsey. I didn’t really think much of it at the time, or hurry to look her up. A couple days after, I searched her name. She wasn’t popularized yet, and something about that aroused my curiosity. So I began listening to her music… and I fell in love.
Her voice is something indescribable—it’s different, it’s unique. She uses her voice not for her advantage, but to spread positivity and individuality. Halsey’s birth name is Ashley Frangipane. Our society is full of culturally appropriating teenagers who just want to do whatever’s “cool”, and sometimes that includes acting depressed or like a victim. Ashley is, in every way possible, preaching and praising the idiosyncratic side that everyone has. She is one of the most propitious young artists, in my opinion, because she is up front with everybody. Halsey isn’t afraid to speak her mind, which means you know what you’re getting yourself into by following her. That’s rare… so rare for a musician in this era.
