The university of North Carolina in Greensboro is always hosting events. From decorate a cookie to the Wildin’ Out show with Nick Cannon. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend any of the Homecoming activities. The Halloween Celebration was the first interesting event I could attend. I attended the Halloween Celebration on October 25th. This event was held in the Maple Room of the EUC building. The Halloween Celebration was from the hours of eleven o’clock till two o’clock. During these hours, you could carve a pumpkin, play games, take photos in the photo booth, and receive candy and small prizes. I only could attend this event at twelve o’clock so I had less time to fully create my pumpkin. Luckily, I got there just in time before there was …show more content…
There was different colors of paints and glitters to choose from, there was also different pipe cleaners, stickers, and other objects you could use to put onto your pumpkin. I also enjoyed that UNCG provides these small events to anyone here on campus. Especially, for someone like me that lives off campus and misses out on the larger events. My least favorite part, if you have not noticed so far, was that the pumpkins, unfortunately, were not real. But I realized that the possibility of having enough real pumpkins for that massive number of people would not be financial capable.
I would not attend this event by myself again. I would, however, go back if either my roommate and or classmate would go with me. I feel as though I would not have focused as much on the small negative things and more on the overall positive the staff members and other students had for the event. I believe, with another person, I would have used the photo booth and the games systems.
As stated earlier, the UNCG staff members and other students are doing everything they can possible to make this school feel more of a home than a place of education; to makes us find some ray of sunshine in these stressful times. Attending on-campus events can bring that little bit of sunlight into someone that is may be having a rainy day. Especially, some of the first-year students who are still dealing with the

On September 9th I attended a Phi Slam event called Kaleidoscopic Color-Dressed Chromatic Dance Fest. This was a social dance event that is completely dry and it is essentially a giant dance party. The guys in Phi Slam, which is a Christian organization that is similar to a fraternity but they do not do typical frat things such as drinking, hazing or smoking, set up the event. Phi Slam has events just like fraternities and sororities do. This event was just one of the many events they put on throughout the year.…

By taking the time to attend events that the students put in effort to master, teachers show that they care about the interests of their students, and they are not just there to teach and facilitate content knowledge. Attending the junior varsity football game gave me the opportunity to make meaningful connections with students who do not really know me that well, and this showed the students that I genuinely care about what interests them outside of the brick and mortar…

Nothing screams Halloween like vampires, ghosts, and haunted houses, but the most favored festivity to do during the holiday is to decorate your house with gourd-like orange fruits which are illuminated by candles. From doorstep to doorstep, these carved pumpkins peer out for the entire neighborhood to see. This tradition was originally brought to America by Irish immigrants, and has become an integral part of Halloween celebration since. Although it’s a fun, easy process to do, pumpkin carving has specific steps that should be followed to ensure safety and a good turn out.…

The crowd voted for this by chanting to each person and whoever got the loudest chant won. This also was fun to see everyone come together no matter who won, or did not win.…

With Halloween taking place just about a month ago and me being a first-year college student, I found it suitable to choose a topic that related to both college and the holiday that so many of America’s youth actively participate in these days. So, I began my research; through countless amounts of Google searches and digging through all sorts of news websites, I finally found an interesting article from The New York Times. The title was “Why Halloween at College Is So Frightening” and was written by a man named Mark Bauerlein who teaches at Emory University. The periodical starts off by explaining the scary effects that Halloween can induce on the students and administration across many of today’s college campuses. This is particularly because…

Through this event I have received the greatest gift anyone could ever be given, joy. I find joy in the smiles I see on those children's faces when they finally find the correct answer to a math problem. I find joy in the laughs I hear when the club members are playing a game of basketball. I find joy in seeing the club prosper and grow larger overtime. I find joy in the knowledge that none of those things would be possible without the yearly funds the Haunted House event raises.…
