Hallie Grace Narrative Essay

While I was deployed to the Middle East, my wife went into labor. She was only 30 weeks pregnant at the time. I was not supposed to return to the U.S. for another month, but due to the severity of the situation I was able to return home in under 2 days. Within 5 hours of my arrival to the hospital, Hallie Grace was born 10 weeks premature. The military suggest 1-2 weeks for adjusting back to normal life after a deployment, but my family needed me to adapt on that first day. I was a terrified new father, my wife was recovering from giving birth, and my 3 pound 4 ounce daughter was living inside an incubator. It was an overwhelming situation to say the least and the only thing I could do was pray. I asked God to watch over all three of us and to give me the strength to …show more content…
This included at the hospital and at our home an hour away. I made multiple trips a week to check the mail and ensure the house was in order. It became normal to wake up in a hotel room and go visit out daughter in the hospital. Then, after 10 weeks, we received news that Hallie was going to be discharged. I have never been so excited and afraid at the same time. We were finally going home but we had to leave behind the security blanket of the hospital. I realized that God was who got myself and my family through those difficult days, and that He will surly get me through all of the other challenges that life has to offer. Give examples of how the practice of ministry has affected your experience and understanding of A) God At the core of my understanding of God is a God of love in covenantal relationship with God’s children. Romans 8:38-39 says it well; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The practice of ministry has only proven to strengthen that belief. I was called early Saturday morning to sit with a family who had just learned of the death of their daughter/granddaughter in a vehicle accident.…

This hardship was experienced personally by Brenda Roza as she realized that “there may not be that person next to you that's going to speak up for you”. Before I went to the hospital my family and friends tried really hard to keep me calm before this big endeavor that would change my life forever. One of the things they did was talk to my pastor at my church about blessing me before the surgery. My priest blessed me by saying in a holy voice, “Please God protect Emily from all harm during this surgery, and please be with her during this hard experience.” Another wonderful gesture my family did for me was put on a birthday party, since my birthday was only a couple days after my surgery when I would be still recovering. After the celebration came to a close I went upstairs to go to bed, but before I fell asleep my mother came into the room with a gloomy look on her face.…

The crucible was about a lengthy trial which caused many people to open their eyes and see the bigger picture. In my opinion, most have gone through, or will go through, a severe trial during their life that will cause them to change their perspective. For me the trail I experienced which impacted me the most was seeing my little sister in critical condition at the age of two. I was nine and my world turned upside down for what seemed like forever. Although I was young at the time, the thought of not having my little sister in my life impacted me strongly, and led me to mature.…

It was the worst feeling to wake up and barely knowing where I was. The beige walls and the cheap furniture constantly reminded me that I was far from home, and when I got back home, it would not be the same.
