Hale's Argumentative Essay

After a conversation where Hale explains what he encountered when he entered the home the previous morning, the County Attorney wants to get started with the investigation of the crime scene. The County Attorney says after looking around “I guess we’ll go upstairs first – and then out to the barn and around there.” This is the first verbal inference about the County Attorney’s chauvinistic feelings. He is thinking along more of a man’s self importance not stopping to think about this is where a woman would or could spend a lot of time thinking about things. The sheriff goes on to back up this ideal when asked if he was “convinced that there was nothing of importance here- nothing that would point to any motive?” by the county attorney, by saying “Nothing here but kitchen things.”(1128) Which is telling us that the sheriff also sees in the more self important man view of things. That it’s just a kitchen and it couldn’t offer any clues about a case as big as a murder. …show more content…
Mrs. Peters explains how Mrs. Wright was worried about the fruit and the freezing temperatures of the house. This is when Mr. Hale shows his disregard for what a woman’s worth is by saying, “Well women are used to worrying over trifles.”(1128) With this passage all the men have now shown their callous attitudes about what kind of work that a woman does to be the homemaker. Energy independency has now become an international subject, spreading with radical pioneers who seek independence from the local power grid. Henk Rogers reiterates, through his campaign to run his house on solar electricity and amicable quest to ensure Hawaii's electrical independency by 2045, that energy independency is accomplished when an individual or even a community can successfully supply their own energy needs without assistance from the power grid. Through his tenacious aspiration to encourage residents to go off grid, Rogers has inspired countless residents to become energy independent. In doing so, he has prioritized it as his ‘number one’ objective, insistent to reduce carbon emission from combustible fuels. The key factor that lead him to partake of the clean energy movement was perturbing fact that Hawaii’s hallmark coral reefs are perishing in the increasingly acidic ocean.…

A man named Dr. John Emerson, a white male, decided to purchase a slave named Dred Scott in the year 1833. Because Emerson was a involved with the army for imployement reasons, he and Scott lived in a military base in Wisconsin. Their move to Wisconsin was controversial however because Wisconsin was no longer a slave state due to the Missouri Compromise. The Missouri Compromise was a deal the United States made with Missouri, resulting in the creation of a new amendment, in which Missouri was introduced into the country as a slave state. Because of Missouri's decision to enter as a slave state, it offset the balance the union had where there was an equal number of slave states as there were free states so in order to fix this, the United States made Maine a slavery free state.…

When we are handed something for free, it is usually considered common decency to not be acting too demanding or to not be asking for more. We are expected, in all grace, to act gratefully. However, when provided with publicly funded goods, such as a university education, are we expected to act in the same way? The 21st of April 215, American student Connie Dickison filed a lawsuit against Malardalens University, a Swedish higher education institution, (DN, 2015) claiming that the study programme that she had been attending had not lived up to the standards that had been set in the course guide. She is now claiming her entire tuition fee to be refunded.…

Feminism in Trifles Trifles may be about two women keeping the truth behind a murder a secret, but feminism is also slipped into the play, and plays a key role within the performance. Feminism in Trifles was radical; it was very clear from both the performance watched in class, as well as script. This makes sense because the play is set in the late 19th century, and it was typical for women to be treated so discourteously. Glaspell showed her view of feminism through the way two women acted when the men were in the room, the way the men talked to women, and the ideal of hiding evidence because they understood what Mrs. Wright was feeling.…
