The paper concerns the process that Hal R. Varian usually experiences when he works on research. First, get an idea. The best way to do that is reading newspapers, watching TV, talking to businessmen, and living experiences, instead of reading articles. Particularly, Varian believes that when one talks to businessmen, one realizes they use well-established processes in their businesses. However, no businessmen asked himself why those processes work, and it could be a good insight to start thinking.
