Personal Statement
Growing up in my native country, Haiti, I always had an increasingly sense of helping others. My high school years were characterized by a train of efforts in order to help fight the scourge of illiteracy. After my High School I enrolled at the State University of Haiti where I earned a double major in Communication and Economics Sciences. My first job was in the field of Communication. The Non Profit Organization I used to work for had a specific mission to shoot documentaries about the physical and educational needs of some schools in the country and send them to some prestigious international philanthropic organizations to collect funds. My second job was a mixture of Education and Communication. The idea was to come in help to the hundreds of thousands of young students in Haiti, who faced, and still facing unfortunately, significant deficiencies in school structures and infrastructure. The Haitian Foundation for Private Education (FONHEP) has designed a Distance Learning program to teach young Haitians students some important notions of mathematics, reading, and democracy by radio. With a team of diligent and devoted professionals and an unconditional support of the state authorities and some international organizations involving in education the program was a great success. …show more content…
Since 2007, I work for Broward County Public Schools as at an Education Center in Fort Lauderdale with a large population of averaged and foreign students. Whether they are new to the country or transfer from another school in Broward or elsewhere, these students need all kind of help from learning the language to navigate a computer’s mouse throughout helping them to engage academically. My countless accomplishments at the ESOL and Adult departments give me a leitmotif to engage myself more in order to give more people an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of
